At Home with Parables – Inside a Tradition House in Tayible
Let’s revisit a traditional home to make sense of two parables—the neighbor in need and the lost coin. The neighbor story features someone who likely responds out of a sense of his family’s honor. This second parable is part of three “lost” parables (sheep, coin and son) which each contribute uniquely to understanding who is lost, how they get lost, and how God responds. This is a particular focus in Luke’s Gospel. These two stories are set in cultural contexts we’ll explore Behind the Text in this lesson.
