Zedekiah’s Final Escape – Following the Last King’s Footsteps
Israel’s hope had been anchored in God’s promises to David’s royal line and to dwelling in Zion forever. The destruction of both by the Babylonians was inconceivable. Yet Jeremiah predicted this—and he also predicted a restoration of both. Let’s explore the escape of David’s heir, Zedekiah, through the same tunnels where Solomon, David’s first successor, quarried stones for the temple which was now about to be destroyed.
