The two important things to consider whenever we study the message of the prophets are:

– their audience and

-their historical time.

We can find that meditation and careful reflexion on the law of God is wise. And that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of true wisdom.

The Hebrew poetry does not necessarily needs to rhyme and a poem is made of two lines.

The Jews could study, reflect, ponder and rewrite their sacred books as well as keep and teach their faith to each other and to the next generation.

David’s loyalty to Israel’s God remained during his lifetime – he never worshiped other gods from the surrounding nations.

Joshua learned to obey and trust the Lord in order to serve him as his sorvereign king.

We must follow his steps by

– learning from God’s commands to love another;

– trust Jesus as our God and Lord;

– serve God by serving humanity.

We were created graciously by God to be his image administering his kingdom in his behalf.

Because we are all human beings, the same kind of people living in the same planet as the Old Testament people.

It is a way to better understand the different epochs, their people, their convenants as well as their corresponding produced literature – their books – once God has revealed himself in the space and time of the human finite history.
