  • Yes, sometimes in early 1980s during my undergraduate days at the University of Jos, Nigeria, when on a witnessing session for Christ, I met an unbeleiver who asked me questions that challenged my faith becuase It made me to come back and search the Bible for answers. That is one of the encounters I still remember today, even after decades of years. Finding answers to those questions helped streeengthened my faith in Christ.

  • Yes, I have at some time in the past thought of the book of Revelation as a book that detailed what would happen at the end-times. A book that provides detail of events about the second coming of Christ. My views of Revelation at that time were of course based on the teachings I received from my Sunday school lessons at the Local Chruch. As a child, I attended Sunday School at the Evangelical Chruch Winning All (EWA) church in my village of Sansani, In Billiri Local Government Area of Gombe State, Northern Nigeria. I learnt that Revelation contained a series of events that would happen before Jesus Christ returns to the earth the second time to take those who believe in Him to heaven. That if I confess Him as my Lord and Saviour, He will, in turn, confess me as his follower before Hi father who is in heaven.

My perspective of the book of Revelation hasn’t changed but has been rather enhanced and strengthened. I fell comforted and my faith in Christ has grown to know that my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ did not only die on the Christ, was buried and rose from the grave after three days and went to heaven but that he will be coming back to take me to where He and God the Father lives. Studying the book of Revelation has encouraged me and strengthened my faith in Christ to strive to the end, despite the discouraging things around me and the hatred of the world to the message of salvation. It is a book of hope and assurance of a life with God in the hereafter. Revelation is a book that should d comfort any Christian going through a period of suffering, pain and discouragement. It is a book that assures me as a Christian that even though things around me may be through and difficult, they are going to be but for a short time. A time is coming when there will be no more sorrows, no more crying and no more hardship for those who believe in Christ as their Lord and Saviour. That single hope of Christ’s return to take me to be with Him and God the Father has kept my faith moving despite the present difficulties of the end-times. It is a hope I love to share with people who are ignorant or don don’t believe in Him. It is a hope that is an undeniable truth and that the Scriptures have talked about several times. It is that singular hope that every believer holds on to and keeps on expecting every new day because He told us that only the Father knows when. I look unto that day to be with my Saviour and Lord and will live to path no more.

  • The study has further strengthened my faith in Christ and has put me on greater alert for my coming Messiah and Lord, Jesus Christ.

  • The study has helped clarify my understanding of why the book of Revelation was written and how the message of the book of Revelation also applies to me as a Christian. It was written to exhort any Christian suffering persecution because of his/her faith in Christ and also to warn me of the consequences of being cool in the faith. The need to be ready at all times because Christ may come at any time to take his own and He is coming with rewards for those who endure to the end.

  • It is important to understand the type of book Revelation is because, when the book was written it had a purpose and an audience that the message was sent to. Knowing that purpose and audience will help the reader better understand the book of Revelation when reading it. It helps properly situate the reader in the mind of the writer and to better understand why the book was written.
