- Dr. Barbara L. Peacock is an acclaimed author, keynote speaker, and the recipient of numerous awards, including the Award of Merit from Christianity Today. Her writings continue to inspire and equip readers to explore the depths of faith and spiritual growth.
- Her book, Soul Care in African American Practice, was named Book of the Year in 2021 by the Martin Institute for Christianity and Culture and the Dallas Willard Award (MIDWC).
- Additionally, she has been recognized by Christianity for Biblical Equity (Mutuality) and was a finalist for honors from the Museum of African American History (Boston) and Black Authors Matter.
- Dr. Peacock is the founder of Barbara L. Peacock Ministries and Peacock Soul Care (PSC), an inclusive, Christ-centered institute dedicated to spiritual growth and formation. PSC offers certificates in Spiritual Direction and Spiritual Formation, making it the first African American institution to provide such programs. It also features Soul Care Leadership courses for those seeking semester-long studies in spiritual growth.
- As a passionate spiritual director, preacher, teacher, and intercessor, Dr. Peacock is devoted to guiding individuals and groups toward deeper relationships with God. She actively supports ministries such as the Charlotte-based True Value of a Woman Ministry, BraveWorks, and serves on the board with For Charlotte. She has also served as a national speaker for the Exponential Group, a fundraising organization founded by Dr. Bruce Wilkinson.
- Dr. Peacock enjoys traveling, writing, and staying active. She is married to Gilbert, and together they own Freedom Financial Advantage. The couple has one daughter, Vernee, who is married to Michael. Their family, including grandchildren Eden and Eliah, resides in Milton, MA.
